Surreal
These heads are not really related to this quick post. But I like having images now that I'm in the triple digits (for posting, that is). If you want to figure out what they were doing in a new retail space on my walk home this week, see if you can figure it out from the URL in the window.
Otherwise, I actually wanted to comment on MOSI. I'm very stressed this week with work and a conference tomorrow, and have put in 12 to 16 hour days. On top of that, my relationship with MOSI is pushing past those first few weeks/months of excitement, when you ignore faults and are in crush stage.
This is the reckoning time, when people's flaws show, and your personalities are exposed, and you realize that maybe you aren't the best match, or that it's something great.
This has added some tension in my head as well, but it is not to be avoided. And last night I had such a wonderful (if brief) time with him, that I think we're looking at something great.

Blogging 101
That's right, this is my 101st post. And for that reason I thought it appropriate to stop and reflect. Those 100 posts took me almost 14 months, which I was rather proud of until I remember that Ms. Write Again Soon had 287 posts while spending a year in Sweden. *sigh* I suppose I'll simply never measure up.
I am content with where this blog has gone. Nam June Paik might agree (post on that to follow) that this is my version of my own TV channel. It is random, introspective, frivolous, and sporadic. It is also a channel with a pretty slow content feed, but I'm too busy out "doing," and this would fall under La's definition of "sorting." She knows me too well.
Regardless, I hope I haven't taken myself too seriously, and I hope that some day this can be a 24-feed of the inside of my mind. Until then, I'll try to bring a bit more cowbell.

Nerdy but Nice
As some might recall, I spent much of last summer announcing that I was going to be bringing the shirt-sleeve shirt back. I was motivated by a refreshingly—albeit sweat inducing—ability to walk to work, and the pleasant discovery that short-sleeve shirts at H&M run a fraction of the cost of the 'slim fit' shirts that I wear the rest of the year.
Inertia set in—and the job allowed the even more casual polo shirt—and I took no action. Then the NY Times got the jump on me last month, announcing the return of the geeky fashion relic. With at least one fashion expert suggesting that it will be even bigger next summer, I figured it was time to get in ahead of the curve. And 96 degree weather seemed the most appropriate time.
While I don't think I sex it up as much as someone might with, say, arm definition (ah, how the gym has become but a faint memory), I think I can pull it off. I also relish that while designer versions run the price of regular dress shirts, mine really was a steal (perhaps at the expense of better tailoring). As a bonus, this heat hardly phases me.
Most importantly, I feel I have the requisite amount of irony. There was a time that metro stops like Federal Center SW and L'Enfant Plaza horrified me with their federal drones sporting bellies, combovers, and eye glasses that my parents had me wearing in 3rd grade. I moved past that fear, and I now fit the image of the bureaucrat I was terrified of becoming.

iPod Shuffle
I was prompted* yesterday by a friend at work to turn my iPod to Shuffle and list the first 10 songs, with commentary as appropriate. He, in turn, got it from a friend at www.robertspuhler.com.
I couldn't resist, so here goes. I invite others to post their own, either as a comment or on your own blog. Yeah, its a WEbring topic!
1. Ray LaMontagne - Hold You In My Arms: awesome new artist I discovered in MOSI's car, and now we're going to see him Aug 1 at Wolf Trap
2. Radiation Kings - Messenger: great Ska band album from Grace's Connecticut high school
3. Ben Folds - Philosophy: who doesn't love the sing-a-longs Ben does to this song?
4. Regina Spektor - Fidelity: yeah, I'm one of those tools who downloads songs after hearing them on Grey's Anatomy
5. Karminsky Experience Inc - Departures: I also download songs after hearing them on the "electronic" and "the buzz" stations on American Airline flights to/from DFW
6. Rufus Wainwright - Go or Go Ahead: finally something gay comes up
7. Leann Rimes - Can't Fight the Moonlight [thunderpuss remix]: I guess I spoke too soon
8. Ray LaMontagne - How Come: iPod really likes him too
9. Green Day - Walking Contradiction: ah, from my WHFS days
10. South Park - Cartman - No Kitty, This is my Pot Pie: "Mom! Kitty's being a dildo!" "Well then I know a certain someone who's sleeping with mommy tonight!"
*Yeah, I'm not the best as spelling. But I'm willing to fess up to revisionist history.

Long Arm
The law has found me... or rather, the IRS has. I've been audited. Well, that's not the word they choose. They picked a nicer word, like "honey kissed," or something, but it's got the same effect. I don't recall, as I left the burning ashes in the toilet on my way to work this morning. I'll update ya when I know more.
It just goes from bad to worse...
